New study examines impact of equitable access to services on health outcomes of veterans

A major study funded by the Endowments will examine the effectiveness and efficiencies of health and service outcomes for more than 4,000 veterans in southwestern Pennsylvania. Focusing on services provided by the region’s Veterans Affairs medical centers and PAServes-affiliated nonprofit service providers, the research will be led by the Pittsburgh-based Veterans Health Foundation and includes elements that identify and offer solutions to race and gender-based disparities in how services are accessed and provided.

16 professional artists receive Creative Development Awards

Pittsburgh’s rich cultural heritage and diverse artistic future are celebrated by 16 artists receiving a total of $346,000 through The Heinz Endowments’ Creative Development Awards program. Themes of uplifting cultural heritage, loss and healing, bridging political differences, and human rights advocacy connect the work of many of the artists, who also incorporate technology and science into their creations.
