Hilltop Urban Farm envisions neighborhoods where fresh, healthy food sustains community

Located on 107 acres of land – with 23 acres dedicated to farming – Hilltop Urban Farm is a multi-pronged initiative that produces locally-grown crops, provides agriculture-based education, generates entrepreneurial opportunities, and strengthens communities. Open to anyone over the age of 18, Hilltop Urban Farms’ Farmer Incubation Program trains adults who are eager to learn the fundamentals of urban farming and permaculture.

Experience “Myth-Science of the Gatekeepers” at Pittsburgh Glass Center

Experience the beauty, knowledge, and magic of “Myth-Science of the Gatekeepers,” a collection of 16 life-size glass sculptures representing Black queer Kemetic deities at The Pittsburgh Glass Center through Ju‌ly 28. The exhibition by art collective Rainbow Serpent, led by founders Mikael Owunna and Marques Redd, includes “Blackstar Sanctuary,” an immersive virtual reality film that explores an expansive temple that houses the deities.

A commitment of up to $10 million joins Inflation Reduction Act funding for climate-friendly projects

The Heinz Endowments has committed $10 million over two years for climate-friendly regional projects, and is supporting the creation of a coordination hub designed to help nonprofits, municipalities, school districts and redevelopment authorities interested in applying for funds through the Inflation Reduction Act.
