1Hood Media Presents:

1Hood Media Presents is a series of cross medium events rooted in Hip Hop culture that include visual, performance, discussion and dance components. Locally, organizations such as The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, The Andy Warhol Museum, The Kelly Stayhorn Theater, and The City of Asylum, have partnered with us to showcase socially conscious Hip Hop culture in its varied forms. We host amazing events that mesh Hip Hop culture, youth culture, and social justice while simultaneously allowing a platform for local socially conscious Hip Hop artists to present regularly. 1Hood Media has presented Pittsburgh artists such as Kendra Ross, Anqwenique Wingfield, Paradise Gray, Londen Malloy and Jacquea Mae. Each engagement exemplified art from various genres within the Hip Hop culture, with a special focus on raising both awareness of and revenue for the artist. Our programming includes identifying, mentoring and curating events that will provide a catalyst for professional artistry within the local Hip Hop culture. Events completely surround Pittsburgh based talent, though some events will include national artists. With Jasiri X, Pittsburgh based Hip Hop artist and activist, at our organization’s creative helm; Pittsburgh is connected with artists and activists from around the world who are opened to bridging our collective interest. 

 

1Hood Meda is an arts/education platform for showcasing and nurturing socially conscious artists, raising awareness around and encouraging scholarly discourse surrounding topics that impact our community. Our ability to affordably combine local, with national, while providing arts, education, and entertainment is unmatched in the region.  Performances, talks and exhibits will require use of the entire building, in various spaces, at different times through out the year.
