Preparing a STEM Workforce

ASSET is helping Pennsylvania lead the way in statewide science education reform and in preparing a future workforce in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related fields that can think critically, innovate and compete in a global economy.

Since its inception, ASSET has commissioned independent evaluators to analyze the organizations impact on teaching and learning.

These evaluations consistently have shown a positive effect on teacher development and student achievement. For example, ASSET’s fifth graders’ mean TIMSS (Trends in International Math and Science Study) test scores were on par with those of students from Japan and were greater than student scores from England and Canada. Clearly, ASSET is helping our students to compete globally.
