Oakland Girls Choir

The Oakland Girls Choir was established in 2005 to provide an opportunity for girls of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds to experience the joy of singing together in a comprehensive choral training program. Students come from cities and townships across the Pittsburgh region and are grouped into ensembles by age and skill level. Based in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, the choir focuses on building a community of mutual respect and encouragement, creating a safe haven for all participants and maintaining a welcoming environment for new members. Each singer understands that her contribution is valued and that her voice is a unique gift. Choristers also develop the values of discipline, poise, and dedication in creating art while encountering the beauty and power of choral music. Go to this Spotlight
