1Hood Day 2015

1Hood Day is an annual 24 hour celebration of Hip Hop Culture in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  This year we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of X Clan's release of To the East Blackwards. We began on August 13, 2015, with a gallery presentation at the Alloy Studios entitled Blackwards 4 Ever, curated by our very own Paradise Gray of X Clan with Hip Hop memorabilia from the Paradise Collection. The presentation is a visual representation of the impact X Clan has had on the Hip Hop Culture then and now. In addition, that evening we will hosted an installment of our One on One Series with Jasiri X, where Jasiri sat down with Brother J and Paradise to discuss XClan past, present, and future.

On August 14, 2015 our festival celebration culminated with a FREE concert featuring XClan, Wise Intelligent, Jasiri X, Tef Poe, Sa-Roc, and 1Hood Media artists Idasa Tariq, Blak Rapp Madusa, Jacquea Mae, Tyhir Frost, L.U.C., King Legion and Jordan Montgomery. Thanks to Rivers of Hope and AR3, we were able to host the festivities at Anthony Rivers Park in East Liberty on the corner of Broad and North Saint Clair. Funding for the The Pittsburgh Hip Hop Collective was provided by the Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh Program, a partnership of The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Heinz Endowments.
