Philip R.S. Johnson
Program Director

Philip Johnson is director of The Heinz Endowments' Environment & Health Program, which is part of the foundation's Sustainability team. He currently manages a grants portfolio and community initiatives that focus on environmental systems, public health, susceptible populations and vulnerable communities, as well as energy impacts and alternative energy, green infrastructure, community resilience and climate change. He also directs the Breathe Project Initiative that focuses on improving the region’s air quality.

Prior to joining the Endowments, Phil worked for government agencies and nonprofits in fisheries/ecological restoration, public health and environmental science.

Phil received his Master of Public Health, Master of Environmental Science and PhD in Risk Management from Yale University. Phil currently serves as co-chair on the Health & Environmental Funders Network steering committee.

 

 

 

 


Yassiris Mahan
Administrative Assistant

Yassiris M. Mahan is the administrative assistant for the Sustainability and Environment & Health areas at The Heinz Endowments. She joined the staff in November 2016 as the receptionist and grants assistant.

Prior to coming to the Endowments, Yassiris worked at Merrill Lynch and PNC Bank, where she provided financial-related administrative support to executives for 17 years. She is completing her bachelor’s at Robert Morris University in communications and information systems.
